Parent Judging
At many of the tournaments our school attends, our team is expected to provide for some of the judges. Example: at a typical LD debate tournament, each school is required to provide one judge for every two students it registers. Because Edina believes in giving every student who wants to participate, and is prepared for competition, the opportunity to attend tournaments, we often have large judge obligations, and thus a high need for parent volunteers.

SUGGESTED PARENT INVOLVEMENT
To accommodate the need for judges and to provide parents with an opportunity to learn more about their child’s involvement in debate, the Edina debate team suggests that one parent/guardian of each student either judge the equivalent of one full day of tournament competition, or pay a one-time $100 judge hiring fee to the Edina Friends of Forensics (which covers the cost of hiring a judge for one day).
