#ICEBUCKETCHALLENGE

30,000 Americans are stricken with ALS.  Currently, there is only one drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat ALS, which only modestly extends survival by two to three months. Consequently, ALS is 100 percent fatal.

The Edina debate team will be taking the ice bucket challenge to raise awareness about ALS and to honor the work of Pete Frates.

Details are these:
  • We'll meet outside the ECC by Kuhlman field at 7:15PM, Thursday August 21st.
  • You need to bring: A bucket, ice, towel and dry clothing.
  • We're asking each participant to bring $5/ to donate to the ALS Association.
  • Debate alumni are welcome.
Questions should be directed to student organizers Arvind Veluvali and Annika Smith Ortiz

Camp Practice Week

Experienced debaters will begin their season with our "camp" week.   This is only for experienced debaters.

Some of you have been at camp this summer (or are at a camp now) and others have not debated since December.  One of our big goals of these two days is to take stock of where you are at and establish a plan to get ready for your season opener.

All three kinds of debate will practice on Monday, August 18th and Thursday,  August 21st from 6-8PM.

You need to confirm you are coming/not coming by emailing your event coach by Friday, August 8th at Noon.

These sessions are being held at the Edina Community Center, not EHS.
