Competition Clothes Closet

Every debater or extemp speaker needs a competition outfit so that they look like champions when competing.  Since kids outgrow their clothes, we'd like to start collecting donated professional clothing and organize a competition clothing closet so that every Edina debater and extemper looks their best.

To get this started we need two volunteer parents of alums who are willing to lead up this effort. If you are willing, please contact coach Charrier at charrier@gmail.com

Hornet Camp 2016

Hornet Camp 2016 will be bigger and better than last summer.  We are bringing in instructors from around America to work with our team for 10 days.  To make this work, we have registration targets that need to be met in order to make the camp financially viable.  Thus there is a small deposit and registration required.  Deadline is Tuesday, February 16th.

State Champs + More

The State debate tournament ended with Edina bringing home a State championship, and more.  We couldn't be happier.  Thanks to coaches Brett, Bob, Tim, Hayley, and Pete who all worked to make this happen.

What makes our team special is the willingness of everybody on the team to help each other succeed.  The "prep squad" for state this week included Megan, Maggie, Claire, Khalid, James, Jenny, Aarthi, James, Sandra, Mark, Jonah, Mark, Mabel, Romi, and Gloria.  This group scouted other teams, cut cards, researched cases, and role-played upcoming opponents.  An amazing amount of effort by all to help prepare or state competitors.

Results and brackets available at the MSHSL website.

A special recognition to Anand who was walked over in semis, allowing Arvind to debate in finals for his 2nd state championship.

2016 Summer Camps

There are many summer camp options for debate.  We put together a a handout of camps that we've had first-hand experience with and endorse as being decent camps that in Minneapolis or the Midwest:

2016 Debate Summer Debate Camp Guide

And then we are having our own early-summer camp for LD and PF debaters:

Hornet Camp 2016 – Edina, MN
June 20-30 day camp 9AM-5PM  $500 (dates, times, and expense all estimates)

We are hosting our own workshop to kick off the summer.   A minimum of 12 PF and 12 LD students are needed to make this camp happen.  Instructors will be successful nationally competitive coaches who will work with local assistants.
